Must Do at Mahabaleshwar


There are many things to do in Mahableshwar. In your leisure time you can roam about the bazaar and do lots of shopping. You can also try your luck at the poker machines

Tapola : About 50 KMs from Mahabaleshwar. Tourists can enjoy boating. There are many scenic view points and strawberry farms on the way.


Boating : Visit lake Venna for a ride on paddle/ or rowing boat. You may ride boat on your own or, alternatively, you can hire one. It is a beautiful and scenic lake.


Horse Riding : Horse riding options are available at Venna lake. Usually, the horse trainer would walk along, and you can enjoy the easy paced ride. If you request the trainer, he can get you a ride at fast pace, with the horse running the circuit.


Trekking : There are many many trekking trails around the hills of Mahabaleshwar. Ask your hotel for the nearest trekking trail. Panchgani is also an ideal base for some good trekking from where one can explore several mule tracks that lead through the now thinning forests. Sporting in Krishna river stream with the beautiful natural surrounding is a wonderful experience in itself.


Watch Sunrise and Sunsets :  Go to Wilson Point or Kate's Point to watch beautiful sunrises, and to Bombay Point or Elphinstone Point to see glowing sunsets.

 

Paragliding :  Table Top is an excellent location from where Paragliding is conducted. There are several other exciting flying sites, near the villages of Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar. The local flying caters to all pilot levels. Beginners can easily log 2 hours in ridge lift mixed with thermals.

 

Eat & Drink :  Strawberry with Cream : The most popular drink, available at most restaurants, is strawberry with cream. It is delicious mouthwatering avalanche of strawberry shake topped with super chilled strawberry ice-cream dazzled with chunks of strawberry fruit in its natural form & crowned with a splash of whipped cream garnished with strawberry pieces to make it a eye catchy, irrestible combo of strawberry desert in it's best form.

 

Strawberries, Mulberries and carrots are the specialty of Mahabaleshwar. One should not forget to try the Corn grown locally available in both roasted and boiled form. Corn pattice made from it is delicious. The food prepared with local vegetables has a unique taste and one should also try the small tomatoes which look like cherries! Don't forget to have the staple food of Maharashtara the Vada Pav which is deliciously prepared by the local vendor next to the Hanuman Temple in the main market.

Mahabaleswhar offers some of the exotic locales that make the spectators spellbound. It is naturally bestowed with so many fascinating beauty spots that offer one with stunning panorama of nature. There are numerous points that overlook the dazzling valleys and deep forests, and majestic peaks.

Arthur Seat (12 Km) : Arthurís seat point is an exotic and picturesque spot , overlooking the Konkan. This is supposed to be the source of the five Deccan rivers Ė viz, Krishna, Koyna, Veena, Savitri & Gayatri.


Babington Point (3 Km) : Height 1295 m. Another point which close to the bazaar. One can have a beautiful view of Saddleback and the Koyna Valley.


Bombay Point (3 Km) : A very popular sunset point. One can get a glimpse of the Sahyadri mountains ,the Koyna valley & Pratapgarh.


Connaught Peak : The second highest point . Presents a panoramic view of the valley like a green carpet. You can see sunrise as well as the sunset from this point.


Chinamanís Waterfalls (4 Km) : It can be reached by the Carviali Road.


Dhobi Water Fall : The fall is on the path connecting Lodwick point to Elphinstone Point.


Helenís Point : River Solshi starts from this point with a small fall near her origin.


Elphinston Point (10 Km) : A favorite picnic spot, Elphinston Point, named after the Governor of Bombay, Sir Elphinston, was discovered by Dr.Murray in 1830.


Hunter Point (4 Km) : Hunterís point approached from Old Mahabaleshwar Road, gives a picturesque view of the Koyna Valley.


Pratapgadh (24 Km) : Pratapgadh (900 meters) was one of the most formidable forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The famous temple of Goddess Bhavani is on the eastern side of the lower fort.
